Most Modern Youth

Most youngsters want to stand on their own legs;
They cannot accept what some adults say;
They wish to see the world through their own eyes;
They love to live a life of their own make.

They differ from the views what elders give;
Their driving force is curiosity;
Their satisfaction comes from what they do;
What others preach can’t please them anytime.

They want to experience life in own ways;
They choose a path more risky, dangerous;
They think that they can do almost all things;
The sky is only limit for their feats.

Fed up of doing things traditionally,
They veer from paths and terrain much trodden,
And slip into the lanes least taken by
Mankind on earth, although more perilous.

They want the world to leave them to themselves;
Oh, can’t they not dress in dark uniforms?
Like demons, they want horns upon their heads!
No inhibitions shall curtail their lives.

And some wear red garments and dye hair red;
Adults shouldn’t question whatever they do;
They want to sing and dance in newer styles;
Why should one block their sense of achievement?

Yet, what they fail to realize is that
One’s education is to better man,
And make him think in appropriate ways,
Applying will to control desires.

One’s blood is red, no matter what you wear;
The skin-color is just by melanin;
One’s character is built by strenuous toil;
Bad conduct can bring ruin upon all.

Good things that adults say are for their good;
You cannot learn all things through experience;
All maxims, proverbs always tell the truth;
Sometimes, we learn from others’ blunders, faults.

’Tis wrong to think that freedom is curtailed;
All elders want youngsters to be happy;
They do not want their children to suffer;
Advice and rod stems out of intense love.
